Nonlinear shear viscosity and long time tails.
A theoretical connection between nonlinear shear viscosity and the long time tail of the equilibrium stress-stress correlation function is pointed out. The connection is a consequence of the Goddard-Miller rheological equation of state which takes into account the angular rotation of a fluid in steady uniform shear.

The effects of some synthetic sweeteners on the rheological and physical properties of guar gum in dilute solutions were investigated.Measurements include the determination of intrinsic viscosity and the particle size, surface weighted mean [D3, 2], volume weighted mean [D4,3] and specificsurface area ofguar gum andsyntheticsweeteners mixtures. if the solute is a nonelectrolyte. TJo is the viscosity of the pure solvent. Considerable experimental and theoretical effort has been devoted to a determination of the coefficient ai, the so-called intrinsic viscosity, for susp'ensions of particles of various shapes since Einstein's [1] 1 original hydrodynamic treatment of sphcres. In these hydrodynamic theories, al is a measure of the disturb...
متن کاملShear thickening in dilute solutions of wormlike micelles
– A new mechanism is suggested for shear thickening in dilute solutions of wormlike micelles. According to this mechanism, there is an instability above a critical shear rate, γ̇c, by which micelles aggregate to form networks of bundles. We examine the first step of this instability by studying the aggregation of two micelles into a paired bundle. The model predicts that γ̇c is given by the inver...
متن کاملShear-induced structures formed during thixotropic loops in dilute worm-micelle solutions.
The shear stress response of the system CTAB/NaSal/water is studied using strain thixotropic loops in the low concentration regime and [NaSal]/[CTAB]=1. Stress response during up-shear curves depends on the ramping rate. However, stress response during down-shear curves collapses in one curve, no matter the rate used during the ramping down process; it does not depend on the history of the syst...
